Fast-forward around 300 years, and a South African mother-and-son duo decided to bring their take on this much-loved gifting staple to the table. Nicholas Scher and his mother Lianne, a Cordon Bleu-trained chef, spent many happy moments around the kitchen table as he was growing up. This is where she taught him to make some truly excellent nougat, which they packaged to be pretty as a picture.
