Dear Rae has become a respected and sought-after brand, especially in the artisanal jewellery circles, as Karin and her team were one of the very first of their kind in Cape Town. “Is that a Dear Rae?” is a question often asked. Founder Karin Rae Matthee launched the brand in 2010 after completing a BA Fine Arts degree and spending a semester at the Pforzheim Hochschule in Germany. Her passion for empowering and employing local South Africans has been a driving force in the business, and Karen strives to produce consciously.
